Ah, the North Shore!

Once again, we packed up the car and hit the road and drove North. The North Shore of Lake Superior is really special to our family. It is peace defined. We try to go during a bit of an off time and the mid-week trip in May really pays off - - - very few people are there and you have the expanse of the North Shore nature mostly to yourself! We always comment that we feel like we are vacationing at the edge of the world. It is beautiful and quiet and insanely beautiful. The hiking is great, the rustic lodge was fun, and the kids LOVE IT. We love going there, even if only for 2 days!

One of our traditions - Nick makes a map for the kids to follow along on the road trip and hiking treks. They love it.
